Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work motivation on work discipline, mediated by job satisfaction, among employees at Cafe Rumpi in Tarakan City. A quantitative approach with an associative design was employed. The study population consisted of 36 employees, all of whom were included in the sample via total sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using linear regression and mediation analysis with a bootstrapping approach. The results indicate that work motivation has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Job satisfaction also has a positive and significant effect on work discipline. However, work motivation does not have a significant direct effect on work discipline once job satisfaction is included in the model. Indirect effect analysis reveals that job satisfaction significantly mediates the relationship between work motivation and work discipline. These findings suggest that enhancing work discipline depends not merely on increasing motivation, but primarily on the establishment of job satisfaction as the mechanism linking motivation to employee disciplinary behavior.
