OPTIMALISASI KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA MELALUI IMPLEMENTASI PENDEKATAN STEM DI SMAN BALI MANDARA

Meskipun berpikir kritis termasuk aspek atau kompetensi yang sangat penting bagi dunia pendidikan, nyatanya kemampuan berpikir kritis belum optimal dikembangkan oleh guru-guru di sekolah. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan implementasi Model STEM yang mampu mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir siswa secara lebih komprehensif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa melalui integrasi aspek STEM dalam materi metabolisme siswa kelas XII di SMAN Bali Mandara. Penelitian ini tergolong Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan pada Semester Ganjil Tahun Akademik 2023/2024. Sejumlah 27 orang siswa turut berpartisipasi di dalam penelitian ini.Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah instrumen kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Lebih lanjut, Lebih lanjut, teknik analisis data yang dipergunakan di dalam penelitian ini menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan statistik inferensial berupa t-test untuk melihat bagaimana kemajuan siswa di setiap siklusnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi pendekatan STEM pada materi metabolisme ternyata memberikan peningkatan yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XII SMAN Bali Mandara di tiap siklusnya, baik itu dari prasiklus ke siklus 1 maupun dari siklus 1 ke siklus 2. Adapun temuan bermakna dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa ternyata lebih menghargai setiap bidang ilmu, khususnya dalam ruang lingkup STEM karena telah melihat bagaimana pentingnya hubungan stau bidang ilmu dengan bidang ilmu lainnya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.
