Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript must not have been previously published and must not be under review by another journal. A written explanation should be provided to the Editor via the Comments for Editor section.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format, not in PDF.
  • The maximum allowed similarity in manuscripts is 20%. Attach the similarity check result as proof.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The text is in 1,15 space; uses a 10 pt Calibri font; employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are positioned in the manuscript near the text that explains them.
  • The total number of tables and figures in the manuscript shall not exceed eight (8), and each must be cited in the text
  • The reference list must include at least 25 sources, with a minimum of 80% consisting of primary literature published within the last 10 years.
  • Where available, URLs and DOIs for the references have been provided.

Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines — Jurnal Ilmiah Medicamento

1. Scope and originality

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Ilmiah Medicamento must present original research or review articles in the field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, consistent with the journal’s focus and scope.
Manuscripts must not have been previously published, nor be under review by another journal. Any related or overlapping submission must be disclosed to the Editor in the Comments for the Editor section at submission.


2. Language and file format

Manuscripts must be written in clear, correct, and concise English. Authors are encouraged to use professional language-editing services when necessary.

Submissions must be uploaded in OpenOffice (.odt), Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx), or RTF format. PDF files are not accepted for initial submission.
Authors should ensure that the submitted file opens correctly on other computers.


3. Layout and formatting

  • Paper size: A4 (21 × 29.7 cm).

  • Margins: 0.5 inches (1.27 cm) on all sides.

  • Font and spacing: Calibri, size 10, 1.15 line spacing, justified alignment.
    The title, author names, and abstract should use single spacing.

  • Italics should be used instead of underlining, except for URLs.

  • Tables and figures must be positioned close to the relevant text that discusses them (either before or after the explanation, not at the end of the manuscript).

  • The total combined number of tables and figures must not exceed eight (8), and each must be cited in the text.


4. Manuscript structure

For original research articles, manuscripts must be organized in the following sequence:

Title Page → Abstract → Keywords → Introduction → Materials & Methods → Results → Discussion (in the main text: Tables → Figures) → Conclusion → Acknowledgments → Author Contributions → Conflicts of Interest → Funding → Data Availability (if applicable) → References → Supplementary Material (if any).

For review articles, the structure may be adapted as appropriate, but should include:
Title Page → Abstract → Keywords → Introduction → Main Text (with thematic subheadings) → Conclusion → Acknowledgments → Author Contributions → Conflicts of Interest → Funding → References.


5. Title and abstract

Title

  • Written in Title Case (capitalize major words).

  • Maximum 20 words, concise, and informative.

Abstract

  • Written in one paragraph (200–250 words).

  • Must briefly describe the background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.

  • Emphasize the novelty or impact of the findings.

  • Include 3–6 keywords, separated by commas.


6. Introduction

  • Provide clear state of the art information and relevant background.

  • Identify the research gap supported by recent literature.

  • Conclude with a clear objective or hypothesis that addresses the identified gap.


7. Materials and Methods

For pharmaceutical or laboratory-based research:

  • Describe tools, instruments, and materials in sufficient detail, including manufacturer and origin (only materials influencing the results should be listed).

  • Present methods and experimental procedures precisely with references.

  • Mention ethical approval number if experimental animals or human subjects are involved.

For clinical or community pharmacy research:

  • Provide details on study population, sampling technique, sample size justification, and inclusion/exclusion criteria.

  • Describe data collection procedures and ethical clearance information.

Data analysis:

  • Clearly describe statistical methods and software used (include version).

  • State significance level (e.g., p < 0.05) and any adjustments made for multiple comparisons.


8. Results and Discussion

  • Present results clearly and systematically.

  • Each table and figure must be numbered, titled, and referred to in the text.

  • Discuss findings by comparing with previous studies, explaining similarities, differences, and possible mechanisms.

  • Interpret results scientifically and critically; avoid redundancy between tables, figures, and text.


9. Conclusion

  • Presented in one concise paragraph (without numbering).

  • Directly answers the research objectives and highlights the study’s contribution or implications.


10. Acknowledgments

  • Mention the funding source or state if the study received no specific funding.

  • Acknowledge individuals or institutions who contributed but are not listed as authors.

  • Indicate if any part of the work has been presented at a scientific conference.


11. Author Contributions

This journal follows the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) by Elsevier to define each author’s contribution.
Authors must specify roles such as Conceptualization, Methodology, Validation, Formal Analysis, Investigation, Resources, Data Curation, Writing – Original Draft, Writing – Review & Editing, Visualization, Supervision, Project Administration, and Funding Acquisition.


12. Conflicts of Interest

All authors must declare any potential conflicts of interest related to the research, authorship, or publication of the manuscript.
If no conflicts exist, state:
“The authors declare that there are no conflicts of interest.”


13. Funding Statement

Clearly identify the source of financial support for the study (if any). If no specific funding was received, state:
“This research received no external funding.”


14. Data Availability and Supplementary Material

While not mandatory, authors are encouraged to provide a Data Availability Statement and submit supplementary materials (e.g., extended datasets, additional figures) when relevant.


15. References

  • Follow the AMA (American Medical Association) 11th Edition citation style.

  • Use Reference Manager software (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote).

  • Include DOIs and URLs where available.

  • A minimum of 25 references must be cited.

  • At least 80% must be primary sources (journal articles) published within the last 10 years.

  • Ensure that every citation in the text appears in the reference list and vice versa.


16. Ethical standards

  • Research involving human subjects must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and be approved by an appropriate Ethics Committee.

  • Research involving animals must follow relevant animal welfare guidelines and provide ethical approval details.

  • Manuscripts lacking ethical approval documentation will not be considered.


17. Plagiarism and similarity check

All submissions are screened for textual similarity.
The maximum acceptable similarity index is 20% (excluding references and quotations).
Authors must attach the similarity report (from Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent) as proof at submission.


18. Peer review policy

All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review, meaning that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.
Authors do not need to submit a blinded version, as the Editorial Team will anonymize manuscripts before sending them to reviewers.

The peer review process involves:

  1. Initial editorial screening for scope, quality, and similarity.

  2. Double-blind review by at least two qualified reviewers.

  3. Decision (accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject) based on reviewer feedback.

  4. Final editorial approval prior to publication.


19. Publication ethics

Jurnal Ilmiah Medicamento adheres to the ethical principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Cases of plagiarism, data fabrication, redundant publication, or unethical research will be handled according to COPE guidelines.


20. Submission checklist

Authors must confirm the following before submission:

  1. The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under review elsewhere.

  2. The manuscript file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF format (not PDF).

  3. The similarity index ≤ 20%, and the similarity check report is attached.

  4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements described in these Author Guidelines.

  5. The manuscript is typed in Calibri 10 pt, 1.15 spacing, and A4 paper size.

  6. Italics are used instead of underlining (except URLs).

  7. Tables and figures are placed near the text where they are discussed, not at the end of the manuscript.

  8. The total number of tables and figures does not exceed eight (8), and each is cited in the text.

  9. The reference list includes at least 25 sources, with ≥80% primary literature from the last 10 years.

  10. URLs and DOIs are provided where available.


Final Note:
Authors are strongly encouraged to use the official MS Word template provided on the journal website to ensure correct formatting and expedite the review process.


Publication Fee Policy

Article Publishing Charge (APC):
Starting from the 2025 publication year, each accepted article is subject to an Article Publishing Charge (APC) of IDR 1,200,002.
This fee covers the cost of editorial handling, peer review administration, copyediting, DOI registration, and open access publication.

Submission and Processing Fee:
There is no fee for manuscript submission or peer review processing. Authors will only be charged after the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.

Waivers:
Requests for fee waivers or reductions may be considered on a case-by-case basis, particularly for authors from low-income countries or for unfunded research.

The journal maintains transparency regarding all publication fees and ensures that financial considerations do not influence editorial decisions.
