Abstract

This study aims to describe anger-related emotion verbs in the Panipahan Malay Dialect (BMDP) based on the Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) theory. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method using in-depth interviews, observation, and note-taking techniques involving native speakers of BMDP in Panipahan. The data were analyzed through lexical identification, semantic classification, and the mapping of semantic components into NSM paraphrases. The findings reveal that BMDP contains nine anger-related verbs, namely jomu, jolak, muak, goam, palak, gaduh, kosal, maah, and mongeh. These verbs represent the semantic category ‘I do not want something like this to happen’ with the subcategories  ‘I want something else now’, ‘I want to say what I think about this’, and ‘I want to do something ’.
