Abstract

Subak is a dynamic cultural heritage, so if not properly guarded, it is likely to disappear and stay nameplate. This research is expected to provide solutions to the preservation of the current subak and will face major challenges in the future. The specific purpose of this research is to inventory and analyze community participation and government support for the preservation of Subak Pulagan as a world cultural heritage. This research is a survey research. The survey was conducted to obtain data on community participation and government support for the preservation of Subak Pulagan as the world cultural heritage. Determination of respondents using the method of random sampling terquota with the number of respondents each of 60 subak members, 60 respondents from the surrounding community, and nine respondents from the government. Determination of informants using snowball method. Data were analyzed using qualitative analysis.

The results show that community participation and government support for the preservation of Subak Pulagan as a world cultural heritage are in good category. This is indicated by the existence of the social practices of the management of the subak Pulagan that is still sustainable despite being surrounded by various challenges and threats that can take away its sustainability.

The author was born in Benjar Metro Kaja (District of Bangli) on December 31, 1960, the author completed his bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Law of Unmas Denpasar, then the author continued his education in the Postgraduate Program in Law Studies at the Postgraduate Program at Udayana University.
