SERAGAM, SENAPAN, DAN GAYUNG: HEGEMONI KEKUASAAN JENDERAL PURNA DALAM FILM “AUTOBIOGRAPHY”

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the hegemony of power shown by a character named Jenderal Purna (JP) to Rakib (R) in the film "Autobiography" directed by Makbul Mubarak. The data collection method in this study is the observation method with watching and notetaking techniques. Furthermore, the qualitative method used in analyzing the data uses one dimension of Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis, namely the text dimension. The findings show that JP's hegemony of power over R is indicated by the types of sentences used by JP, and the repetition of words which are often carried out with increasingly high pitch changes. On the other hand, JP's hegemony of power is shown visually by the position JP always supervises R and controls all of R’s actions.
