Abstract

Abstract
This analysis aims to carry out a deconstructive of the Laut Bercerita novel by Leila S. Chudori using
the Deconstruction method by Jacques Derrida. Qualitative research is utilized in this study. The data
collection technique used in this research is the library study technique. The results of this study show
that the 1998 student activists were the "center", while the New Order government as the "periphery".
The other binarities found are heroes/villains, good/bad, right/wrong, victims/suspects, fighters/traitors.
This oppositional conception leads to the aspect of logocentrism, where an essence/truth is placed which
acts as the basis for beliefs and systems of thought and forms the central. As the result create "universal
truth" created in the novel text by positioning students as subjects, while presenting "repression" and
"justice" for the "minority" in the novel, namely the New Order government.
