Abstract

This study aims to describe the morphological processes of the various terms used during the COVID-19 pandemic. After the outbreak of the Corona virus and designated as a global pandemic by WHO, there are several new terms that are widely used by people throughout Indonesia. The emergence of this language phenomena during the COVID-19 pandemic is the basis for this research. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The sources of the data are taken from linguistic facts related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The theory used in this research is the morphological process theory proposed by Carstairs-McCharty (2002) and the theory of the formation of various terms by Suwardjono (2004). The results showed that the morphological processes found in the various terms during the COVID-19 pandemic included compounding, acronym, abbreviation, borrowing, and blending.
