Abstract

Lately in Japan or other places in east asia, there are rental businesses that rent not a concrete goods or commodity to be rented, but people as girlfriend or boyfriend, or even rented for pretending as members of a family.  The prior reason said that due to loneliness as a single person in Japan, to ease that feeling, single people tend to rent a friend for companionship. However, another reason that may lie behind is a shame culture which makes most Japanese always on alert state that other people may see them and evaluate their value in the current society. The data of this article are collected from vlogs on Youtube channels and articles with the same topics that are available online. Japanese are known for their longed to make harmony and their effort to show a better society, so they convinced well made orders or parameters of an ideal society. So to those who don't fit with the criteria, will soon be excluded or feel unvalued by their surroundings. Those who couldn't face any shameful situation will try to cover and display perfection with such ways like renting a girlfriend or boyfriend in a situation when being single is not favoured, especially on a family gathering.  Beside other factors, the shame culture or haji bunka, could also become a strong trigger for a single person to rent a boy/girlfriend or even members of family in Japan recently.
