Abstract

This study examines the language style present in Japanese song lyrics, specifically the words of Hana ni Bourei, a song sung by a Japanese artist named Yorushika. N-Buna wrote this song, which was released on April 2, 2022. This song is the theme song for the animated film Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu. The goal of this research is to determine the language style used in the lyrics of Yorushika's song Hana ni Bourei. The style of language to be studied is based on sentence structure, and the style of language is based on direct or indirect meaning. There are two types of language styles depending on sentence structure: rhetorical language style and figurative language style. While sentence structure-based language style includes climax, anticlimax, parallelism, antithesis, and repetition. Based on the findings of figurative language research on the lyrics of Yorushika's song Hana ni Bourei, it is possible to deduce that there is one type of rhetoric and two kinds of repetition in the song Hana ni Bourei. The song Hana ni bourei uses rhetorical language style as an affirmation in the form of sarcasm in the song lyrics that contain rhetorical language style.
