Abstract

The development of information technology currently has a considerable influence on changes in human attitudes and behavior in socializing and communicating. One of the negative impacts is bullying on social media or cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is an aggressive and demeaning act carried out using digital technology (social media). These actions can significantly affect the mental health of adolescents. Adolescents who are victims of cyberbullying have a higher risk of developing mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. They can also experience decreased academic performance, and social isolation. In addition, cyberbullying can also affect adolescent self-esteem and identity. Victims often feel ashamed or feel bad about themselves, which can exacerbate their mental health problems. The purpose of this research was carried out as an effort to prevent cyberbullying which affects the mental health of adolescents. This research is a library research with a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of this study regarding the effectiveness of cyberbullying prevention through an approach to the importance of the role of parents, teachers and educators to prevent the possible impact on the mental health of adolescents who are victims of cyberbullying and assist them in overcoming this experience.
