Abstract

This study aims to describe the critical speech acts taught by mobile phone review YouTubers. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. The data in this study are included in the form of factual data in an oral form derived from the speech of a mobile phone review YouTuber. This study's data source is laptop review videos contained in the Gadgetin, Sobat Hape, Nerd Reviews, and Bestindotech youtube channels. The data analysis was based on Nguyen's critical speech act theory. The findings of this study resulted in two speech acts: the criticizing strategy, the direct criticizing strategy, and the indirect criticizing strategy. The semantic formula found in explicit speech acts is negative evaluation. In indirect speech acts, using semantic procedures is the change request.
