PENERJEMAHAN BUDAYA DALAM TAKARIR FILM PENDEK “MARAK”

Abstract

Film is currently used to introduce people to different cultures. In this case, Keraton Jogja provides YouTube to introduce Yogyakarta's distinct cultures, particularly the life of the Yogyakarta palace. This research examines the cultural terms found in the subtitle of the short film ‘Marak’ (2020). The purpose of this research is to examine the quality of cultural term translation so that the concept of culture may be transmitted effectively to foreigners. Newmark divides culture into three categories: material culture, organization, customs, activities, procedures, and concepts, and movements and habits. Most of the categories found in the organization, customs, activities, procedures, and cultural concepts in the short film ‘Marak’ are found in the Yogyakarta Palace, which, of course, is full of cultural things such as names of customs, nicknames for the Sultan and Prince, and cultural event terms.
