This study aims to analyze the challenges and opportunities of preserving Bali Aga culture and traditional architecture in Desa Tenganan Pegringsingan amid tourism development and digital transformation in the Society 5.0 era. Desa Tenganan represents an indigenous community that consistently maintains customary law (awig-awig), social structure, and traditional spatial planning as the foundation of community life. However, the growth of tourism and modernization poses risks such as cultural commodification, spatial changes, and shifts in traditional values. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method using observation, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders and local communities, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that strong local wisdom, selective adaptation to modernization, and active community participation play a crucial role in sustaining cultural identity and traditional architecture. Based on the findings, this study proposes the “Tenganan Smart Heritage” model as a sustainable tourism innovation rooted in local wisdom. The model integrates Bali Aga culture, traditional architecture, community-based tourism management, and selective application of Society 5.0 technologies such as digital storytelling and QR-based cultural information. Technology functions as a supporting tool rather than a dominant force, emphasizing a human-centered approach. This model contributes to sustainable tourism development by ensuring cultural preservation, environmental balance, and community welfare.
