Abstract

Company performance demonstrates a company's ability to generate profits from assets, equity, or debt. Company performance plays a crucial role in corporate management because it reflects the performance of corporate management. Company performance can also be defined as the potential and ability of a business to efficiently utilize available resources to achieve its desired goals. This study aims to analyze and determine the effect of board tenure, compensation, nationality, gender, and narcissism on company performance. The population in this study was banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The sample size for this study was 30 companies, determined using a purposive sampling method. The analytical tools used to test the hypotheses were descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and hypothesis testing. The results show that of the five independent variables studied, two significantly influenced company performance: board compensation and director gender. The other three variables—board tenure, director nationality, and director narcissism—did not significantly influence company performance. Suggestions for future research include expanding the research period to capture the long-term dynamics of the influence of board characteristics on company performance.
