Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of cooperative management, governance, work experience, motivation, and member participation on the performance of savings and loan cooperatives in Mengwi District. The study population comprises all board members, staff, and cooperative members, with a sample of 139 respondents selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection methods included structured questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Multiple linear regression analysis was employed to evaluate the relationships among variables. The findings reveal that: (1) cooperative management positively and significantly influences cooperative performance, (2) cooperative governance has a positive and significant effect on cooperative performance, (3) work experience positively and significantly impacts cooperative performance, (4) work motivation positively and significantly affects cooperative performance, and (5) member participation also positively and significantly contributes to cooperative performance. These results indicate that enhancing the quality of management, the effectiveness of governance, work experience, work motivation, and member participation fosters better cooperative performance. The study suggests that cooperatives should enhance management quality through managerial training, strengthen governance through regular monitoring and evaluation, and motivate board members and staff by providing incentives and recognition. Additionally, cooperatives should encourage active member participation in cooperative activities to improve operational efficiency and overall performance.
