THE CORRELATION BETWEEN GRAMMAR MASTERY AND WRITING ABILITY IN DESCRIPTIVE TEXT OF THE TENTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF SMAN 1 MENGWI IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023

The study aimed at figuring out the correlation between grammar mastery and writing ability in descriptive text of the tenth-grade students of SMA N 1 Mengwi in academic year 2022/2023. The design was correlation research design. Two research instruments are used by the researcher; there are simple present test for grammar mastery and descriptive text for writing ability. There were 43 subjects who consist of 19 males and 24 females and they were determined by random sampling technique. The result of the test showed that there was significant correlation between grammar mastery and writing ability in descriptive text. The researcher used SPSS 25 as a statistical computation. The result of normality test for grammar mastery was 0.053 and for speaking ability was 0.065; homogeneity test was 0.067; Pearson product moment was 0,000; and for the T-test was 0.001. It indicated that there was a significant correlation between grammar mastery and writing ability in descriptive text. Thus, the hypothesis was significantly accepted. It can be concluded that there was significant correlation between grammar mastery and writing ability in descriptive text of the tenth-grade students of SMA N 1 Mengwi in academic year 2022/2023.

IMPROVING READING COMPREHENSION OF THE EIGHTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 4 SUKAWATI IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023 THROUGH RAP

The study aims at figuring out whether the subjects’ reading comprehension can be improved through the RAP strategy. The subjects were the eighth-grade students of SMPN 4 Sukawati. The strategy in this present study which have three elements such as: Read, Ask, Put. Thus, to achieve the objective the researcher was conducted classroom action research design. The data which were needed for the present study were collected through RAP strategy in two cycles and the obtained data was analyzed quantitively from the pre-test, post-test I and post-test II; then qualitatively from the questionnaire. In conclusion, it could be concluded that reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students of SMPN 4 Sukawati in academic year 2022/2023 could be improved through RAP strategy.

THE CORRELATION BETWEEN MOTIVATION AND SPEAKING ABILITY OF THE EIGHTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 2 NUSA PENIDA IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022

This study aimed at finding out how students’ motivation influenced speaking ability of the eighth-grade students in SMPN 2 Nusa Penida. It made use of a correlation research design. The sample consist of 25 students. They were chosen by random sampling technique. The data which were needed for this research were collected through administering questionnaire about motivation and speaking test as the research instruments and delivered by using What Sapp Group platform. The obtained data were analyzed by investigating the correlation between motivation score and speaking test score which was done by using IBM SPSS Statistic 26. The result of the correlation between motivation and speaking ability was 0.506. It described that there is a significant correlation between motivation and speaking ability of the eighth-grade students of SMPN 2 Nusa Penida in academic year 2021/2022. In conclusion, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a substantial relationship between vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension. of the eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Sukawati in academic year 2021/2022. Vocabulary and learning achievement, particularly reading competence, are crucial factors to consider when learning a foreign language. In the current study, there were two factors. Vocabulary was the independent variable, while reading comprehension was the dependent variable. Furthermore, the study instrument used structured sentence writing and short answer text. The research instruments were created in order to acquire the necessary data. The SPSS 23 version was used to examine the data. The data was analyzed in two steps: perquisite analysis and hypothesis testing. Pearson Product Moment Correlation and the T-test were used to assess hypotheses. The alternate hypothesis, that there was a strong association between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Sukawati in academic year 2021/2022, was eventually accepted based on the findings of the hypothesis testing.

THE CORRELATION BETWEEN EFL STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT AND ENGLISH-SPEAKING ABILITY

The research aims at finding out the correlation between vocabulary achievement and speaking ability of eighth grade students of SMP Pancasila Canggu. There were 38 students were used as the sample. The instruments used were filling in the blanks test for vocabulary test and map-cued test for speaking performance. The data collected in this research was analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation in SPSS Statistics 23 version. It was found that r was 0.447. It shows that there was a significant correlation between students’ vocabulary achievement and speaking ability of eighth grade students of SMP Pancasila Canggu. Based on r table, the table of r score 0.400-0.600 is a moderate level. It means there is a positive correlation between vocabulary achievement and speaking ability.

THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THINK PAIR SHARE WITH FLIPGRID TOOL IN IMPROVING STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ABILITY

Speaking is a crucial language skill to be mastered in this era. However, most of the students faced problems with their speaking ability. It happens at SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar. Thus, this study aimed at finding out the improvement of the eighth-grade student with the implementation of Think Pair Share (THS) combined with Flipgrid. Classroom Action Research was used as the research method. Pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire were administered to collect data. The result of the post-tests I and II were 79.9 and 79.24. Moreover, the questionnaire result showed that the students were actively engaged and motivated after the implementation of TPS combined with Flipgrid. To sum up, the present classroom action research proved that the students’ speaking ability could be improved. In Addition, the subjects also responded positively. The implication of the study is a fun and enjoyable ambiance in the teaching and learning process should be accommodated in the speaking activities.

IMPROVING READING COMPREHENSION OF THE EIGHTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 3 SUKAWATI IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023 THROUGH KWL STRATEGY

Reading is the activity involved in acquiring information and comprehending it from written sources. According to study done by researchers, the majority of VIII G students at SMPN 3 Sukawati in academic year 2022/2023 also experience quite serious problems in reading skills, they still have difficulty identifying for general information, the specific information, textual meaning, and textual references. Researchers are interested in whether the Know Want Learn (KWL) strategy may help eighth-grade pupils at SMPN 3 Sukawati enhance their reading comprehension. To accomplish these objectives, researchers conduct classroom activities. Two cycles of class actions were conducted to gather information via tests and questionnaires. Researchers need to compare the two data to find a substantial improvement in the subject's average score from pre-test to post-test. A questionnaire that included supporting information from the class action was the last test, the findings of which indicated that KWL deployment had been successful. Thus, it can be inferred from the findings of classroom action study that KWL can enhance the reading comprehension of eighth-grade students at SMPN 3 Sukawati for the academic year 2022–2023.

THE CORRELATION BETWEEN VOCABULARY MASTERY AND READING COMPREHENSION : A CASE AT SMP (SLUB) SARASWATI 1 DENPASAR

The correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students at SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar was examined in this study using a correlation research methodology. The 60 students who served as the sample were chosen using a lottery system and a random selection technique. Data were gathered using a matching cloze procedure test and a short answer test as the research tools. Prior to hypothesis testing, the data were subjected to prerequisite analysis using the Pearson product-moment correlation calculation and t-test. The data analysis's findings demonstrate that the hypothesis was accepted In other words, the findings demonstrated a significant correlation between eighth-grade SMP (SLUB) students' vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension.

IMPROVING READING COMPREHENSION OF THE EIGHTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 4 DENPASAR THROUGH KWL PLUS

Reading comprehension is a crucial skill that enables individuals to acquire new information. This study at SMPN 4 Denpasar aimed to enhance the reading comprehension of class VIII.10 students. Using the Classroom Action Research method over two cycles, the initial pre-test mean score was 63.00, with only 35% students who could passed. Cycle I, employed the KWL Plus strategy, showed a post-test I mean score of 85.25, and 82.5% of the students who could passed. In Cycle II, with the same strategy, post-test II mean score was 97.25, and 97.5% of the students who could passed. A concluding questionnaire showed 35.22% strongly agreed, 52.72% agreed, and 12.04% were undecided. The study highlights the effective enhancement of reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students of SMPN 4 Denpasar in the class VIII.10, affirming the success of the KWL Plus strategy in the academic year 2023/2024.

IMPLEMENTING OF NUMBERED HEAD TOGETHER TEACHING READING COMPRHENSION IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Reading comprehension is the ability to process written text, understand its meaning, and to integrate with what the reader already knows. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the Numbered Head Together technique in improving reading comprehension, where the application is carried out in two cycles. The subjects of this research were the seventh-grade students at SMPN 5 Mengwi in academic year 2023/2024. The class consisted of 33 students who were deficient in reading, especially in reading comprehension. The data were then analyzed by comparing the results of the pre-test and post-tests which showed there were significant improvements of the subjects' mean score from the pre-test to post-tests. As the supporting data, the questionnaire was also administered at the end of the last cycle and the results showed positive responses on the implementation of Numbered Head Together. Based on the results of the research instruments, it could be concluded that Reading comprehension of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 5 Mengwi in academic year 2023/2024 could be improved through Numbered Head Together.

EXPLORING THE CORRELATION BETWEEN MOTIVATION AND WRITING PROFICIENCY IN SEVENTH-GRADE EDUCATION

The purpose of this research was to find out the correlation between motivation and writing skill of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 Kuta Utara in the academic year 2023/2024. There were two variables in the present research. The independent variable was motivation and the dependent variable was writing skill. The population of this study was the seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 Kuta Utara. The sample of this study was 70 students which were taken with a cluster random sampling method. The design of this study was an ex post facto research correlational study. Furthermore, the matching questionnaire and writing test were used as the research instrument. The research instruments were made in order to collect the required data. The data were then analysed by using SPSS 26 version. There were two steps in analysing the data, namely pre-requisite analysis and hypothesis testing. The hypothesis testing was conducted by applying Pearson Product Moment Correlation and T-test. Based on the finding, it was found the correlation coefficient were 0.931 that means there is a significant correlation between motivation and writing skill of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 Kuta Utara in academic year 2023/2024.

THE CORRELATION BETWEEN SELF-EFFICACY AND SPEAKING SKILL OF THE SEVENTH-GRADE IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

The present study which made use of an ex-post facto research with correlation design was intended to figure out the significant correlation between self-efficacy and speaking skill of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 4 Denpasar in the academic year 2023/2024. The samples of the research consisted of 54 students which were chosen by means of random sampling method with lottery system. The data were collected through administering the research instruments which were in the form of structured questionnaire and picture description. The obtained data were statistically analyzed by using Pearson product moment correlation and t-test. The results of the data analysis clearly revealed the alternative hypothesis was accepted. In other words, the research findings confirmed that there is significant correlation between self-efficacy and speaking skill of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 4 Denpasar in the academic year 2023/2024.
