ANALISIS KESALAHAN SISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL CERITA PADA MATERI HIMPUNAN BERDASARKAN PROSEDUR NEWMAN PADA SISWA KELAS VII M SMP NEGERI 2 KUTA UTARA TAHUN PELAJARAN 2021/2022

Abstract

ABSTRACT

This research purpose to find out the type of errors and causes of students mistakes in accomplish the math story problems. This research method is qualitative method with type of research is descriptive. Data collection is using tests, interviews, and documentation. The subject of this study is the VII M students of SMP Negeri 2 Kuta Utara which consists of 30 students. The research samples were selected using the Cluster Random Sampling method so that the number of the research samples was 6 students. The material used was set math material. The data analysis technique used data was data reduction, data presentation, concluding, and triangulation of data. According to the result and validity of the data, the conclusion was the percentage of the type of error according to Newman, which was the percentage of reading error (11%), the percentage of error in comprehending the problem (19%), the percentage of error in transforming the problem (23%), the percentage of error in processing skill (15%), and the error of writing the answers (32%.) The causes of the error that occurred by the students were the lack of accuracy, the students were in hurry, the students were not comprehending the meaning of the problem, the lack of practice of answering the questions, the students didn’t using their time well, the students didn’t confidence, the students made an error in counting, and the students hadn’t understood the method or the formula.

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya jenis kesalahan dan penyebab kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa dalam mengerjakan soal cerita matematika. Metode penelitian ini metode kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Pengumpulan datanya dilakukan dengan tes, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII M SMP Negeri 2 Kuta Utara dengan jumlah 30 orang siswa. sampel penelitian dipilih dengan menggunakan metode Cluster Random Sampling sehingga jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 6 siswa. materi yang digunakan adalah materi himpunan. Teknik analisis datanya menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, penarikan kesimpulan, dan keabsahan data (triangulasi). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan keabsahan data dapat disimpulkan berupa persentase jenis kesalahan berdasarkan Prosedur Newman yaitu persentase kesalahan membaca (11%,) persentase kesalahan memahami masalah (19%), kesalahan mentransformasikan masalah (23%), kesalahan keterampilan proses (15%), dan kesalahan penulisan jawaban  (32%). Penyebab dari kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa adalah siswa kurang teliti, siswa terlalu terburu-buru, siswa belum paham dengan maksud soal, siswa kurang berlatih soal-soal, siswa kurang memanfaatkan waktu dengan baik, siswa tidak percaya diri, siswa salah dalam menghitung, dan siswa belum paha, menggunakan metode atau rumus.
